Vai Lima

New works on canvas by Fatu Feu’u

Vai Lima is a village in the hills above Apia, in Samoa.

Robert Louis Stevenson lived and wrote there and is the inspiration for these paintings — since he drew attention to the Pacific Ocean. Attention is needed now more than ever to protect our oceans and these paintings are Fatu’s plea for that.

The large I form in these paintings is representative of the Samoan concept of Ifoga – a means of dispute resolution and forgiveness.

Show runs until the end of July.
