Michael Smither and Warren Viscoe

Two Masters

July 2020

Michael Smither hit the headlines in October 2019 when his painting “Sea Wall and Kingfisher 1967” sold for $342,000 at auction—one of the highest prices paid for a work by a living artist.

In July 2020 he and fellow octogenarian artist Warren Viscoe opened a show together here at Miranda Gallery called “Two Masters”.

Warren’s wooden sculptures—including “Portable Rivers” and “A Sarcophagus for an Eel”—stood alongside a series of Michael’s portraits.
